Three questions for Integral Movement
-
It is important to counter the fragmentation, reduction and isolation in so many areas of life with a well-founded and embodied vision and methodology of a dynamic but centred, powerful but relaxed, independent and embedded human being.
-
Integral Movement is designed to support you in your personal movement on your personal journey. Integral Movement is a wisdom path. Wisdom is how and where you move.
-
It is not a philosophical idea, but a concrete experience: body, psyche, mind, soul, self - no matter how many aspects you divide it into, they form a differentiable undivided whole. Integral Movement differentiates and integrates this undivided whole.
-
Experience how the transformative power of Integral Movement leads to effortlessness, spontaneity, creativity and meaningfulness in your movements and encounters.
Integral movement
And natural movement
Natural movement is the functional movement that is embedded in your body, at least as a potential. Integral movement is the quality when the whole person, and not just the body, moves as a unit.
Natural movement includes primary, evolutionary forms of movement such as standing, walking, running, throwing and carrying. We also include our individual movement development: lying, rolling, sitting up, squatting, crawling, hopping, jumping and landing, pulling and pushing. Natural movement includes stability, agility, flexibility, elasticity, mobility and fluidity. It allows you to move effortlessly and continuously while developing strength, power and endurance.
Integral movement is your wholeness moving, flowing and growing like a river. The social and cultural development of movement is also traced here: on the one hand in expression, in gesture, in dance; on the other hand from play to combat to martial arts. Movement, sensation, state and interpretation form a differentiable but inseparable whole. Integral movement dissolves the apparent separations or reductions of body and mind and allows you to experience how undivided you are.
COEBI-Dynamics
Natural movement unfolds through expansion and contraction, or more differentiated, through a process of centring, opening, expanding, blending and integrating. We call this process the COEBI Dynamic.
Cultivation dynamics
Integral movement is cultivated through perception, through a process of observing and sensing, differentiating and integrating, and subtilising and essentialising. We call this the dynamics of cultivation.
Both dynamics together form a whole without hierarchy. We call it integral dynamics. The COEBI dynamic always proceeds sequentially, i.e. in stages, whereas the cultivation dynamic creates a holistic space of cultivation and movement and expresses itself as a state.
Integration
at all levels
The integral dynamic process always strives towards integration. However, contrary to what one might think, integration is not a state of peace and harmony, but the constant embodied unfolding of higher meaning and complexity and deeper togetherness.
Natural movement unfolds the functionality of your body and your movements. Integral movement unfolds the meaning of your being and the meaning of your life. Both movements connect. Natural movement connects the different parts of your body into a strong structure and powerful movement. Integral movement connects all aspects of your being into a coherent process that connects with others and the world.
To summarise, we call the differentiation made here integral movement, as integral movement promotes and integrates natural movement. Integral movement can be taught explicitly, i.e. as integral movement, or implicitly, i.e. in other methods. It does not impose anything on any method, but releases the potential within it.
